For all installation scripts, regardless of CMS is a single principle of file storage: all distributions of engine should be kept in separate folders in the engine directory; all plugins must be in the directory plugins, templates - in the templates directory. But for the last two, according to CMS, method of storage is different (some are in folders, some in the form of files, etc.). That's just about these features will be discussed below.

WordPress, Joomla

The installer supports the installation of the CMS itself, plugins and templates uploading, as well as their activation.

All templates are stored in separate directories and directory name must match the name of the original template (this is a must; otherwise the script does not activate the template).

All plugins are in separate directories, the content of which - it is the content of an plugin archive downloaded from the Internet. If the plugin is a single file, this file should be inside of the folder, and even if the plugin consist of few files, this files must be located inside of another folder. The name of the folders can be anything, it does not affect on the installation, so it is recommended to give meaningful names.

DLE, phpBB3

The installer supports the installation of the CMS itself, templates uploading, as well as activation.

All templates are stored in separate directories and directory name must match the name of the original template (this is a must, otherwise the script does not activate the template).

There is no support of plugins installation because no need to edit the file for each plugin installation.
